Thank you for praying. God is stirring in hearts and I’m thankful to be able to give this report.
1. Baptism and Wedding. We will have a baptism and a wedding on Aug. 20th at Sardis Lake. Daniel Bonecelli will follow the Lord in believers’ baptism. Right after he professes his faith in Christ through this ordinance, we will have a wedding ceremony. Daniel and Stephanie Holcomb will be united in a Christian wedding. After they exchange vows we will have a fellowship. The baptism will be in the swimming area of Sardis lake and the fellowship will be at paradise point pavilion #2 (within walking distance of the swimming area). We are thankful for what the Lord is doing in their lives.
2. Evangelism: We have been going through a witness training course called, “The Way of the Master.” This course has been great in equipping us to share the Gospel and also giving us opportunities to practice on each other: The group members have been giving out tracts and having conversations with people about their need of a Savior. I was thankful for the opportunity this summer to make a lot of visits to houses in Senatobia. As we identify those that are receptive through these contacts, we are seeking to cultivate these with ongoing visits, inviting them to our weekly study and seeking to share the Gospel. I was able to share the Gospel completely at least 4 times through these visits. Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those who heard the Gospel.
3. Sunday Night Worship Services: On August 27th at 6:00 pm we will have the first of our monthly Sunday night Worship services. On one Sunday night each month, we will have a time of singing, preaching and a fellowship time. We are going to purchase hymnals to be used in our services. If you would like to help, the cost for each hymnal is $15. Our prayer and goal is that we will begin Sunday morning Worship next fall (2018). We know this is all in the Lord’s timing but this is our hope and desire.
4. Cell Group. After we finish “The Way of the Master” will will look at specific scriptures that were mentioned in the study: “The rich young ruler”, “The woman at the well” “parable of the soils” etc. Starting on September 27th we will do a study called, “Echoes of the Reformation” This six week study, produced by Lifeway, highlights the biblical doctrines recovered in the protestant reformation. This October will mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation! This exciting study will emphasize the historical significance as well as the truths that were proclaimed and should be proclaimed in Evangelical churches.
